Internet Security Suite Startup (AvastUI)

All the Avast Services are starting when i boot up but the AvastUI has disappeared from startup items and i can’t add it again. I need AvastUI for right click scanning of files, etc.

Hello ds123: To give the appropriate help and direction the evangelists will need to know more info. For starters> what version of Avast are you presently using? Did you have a previous version installed prior to the one you are using now? If so, how did you uninstall it?

Hi, Its version 5 with the firewall, before avast i had zone alarm firewall with spyware doctor. When i first installed Avast 5 i had problems connecting to the Internet with Web Shield ON and was told something was blocking AVAST from gaining access, eventually i reset my Winsock and then i could connect. The right click on File to scan is working now, it is just that AVAST is not listed in startup. Also starting up i have:-
IObit Smart RAM
SpyBot SD Tea Timer
SunJava Update Schedule
Acer Epower Management.

Hi ds123: Well it looks like you are working through…good stuff. As far as Avast not listed in start up I’m not exactly sure what you mean… Do you mean Avast is not in the Start/Programs Menu? Or do you mean the Startup Folder??
One of the evangelists may have a better idea of what your problem may be.
I’m not advising this as an option only my personal experience!!>>> I have found that sometimes with little quirks like this I have simply done a clean uninstall from Add and Remove rebooted and then in Safe Mode have run the (Clean.exe) “Avast Clean up Utility” that is available and then download latest version and reinstall Avast fresh.
If you wait… more experienced specific direction will come from one of the good evangelists.

Hi ds123, spybot is known to cause issue’s with avast especially with tea timer, getting rid of this program could solve some of your problem’s.
You can also try a repair of avast though add remove program’s as well after you remove spybot, also good to make sure that you have completly removed all remnant’s of your previous av and firewall so that there are no conflict’s http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/ scroll to the bottom and get the zonealarm removal tool.
