It’s hard to understand why people installs internet suite. May be because it’s cheaper to get the “combo” than the “standalone” products (marketing) but for the free internet suites I really don’t understand. Why put all your things in the same basket? ???
I like to see it more like stock market investments! Even if Kaspersky is great today, nothing tells me it will still be great next year or in 3 months. I don’t think there is a better Security software brand than another and it is wiser to choose 2-3 different brands to protect your pc.
I don’t like suites either.
I like Windows Defender updated daily and WinPatrol for their real time monitoring functions:

I also use a HOSTS file to prevent known malware sites from accessing your system.
HOSTS files I use:

Managed with HostsMan and I use its HostsServer proxy to speed up browsing:

Make sure that Sun Java is the latest level.
Download JavaRa then run it and un-install all old versions of sun Java:

Get the latest version of Sun Java:

Go to Secunia: Online Software Inspector and run it to detect other insecure applications:

Hi…
I think it’s mostly ease of use. For a lot of folks, having one application that “takes care of it all” and doesn’t require hardly any input from the user, is convenient and worth the investment. It’s not always cheaper to go this route, especially when you pay every year to keep up on the virus definitions. AV programs, like many other products, come in different shapes and sizes to suit the needs and desires of different kinds of people.
Best Regards…
I have never liked suites, much preferring to choose the best (for my needs) in each category rather than some bundle that suits the needs of the manufacturer and to witch I must adapt.
I’m a great believer in the Jack of all trader, Master of none concept and I feel it can easily be applied to virtually every suite out there at present. For many people there is one particular aspect of their suite that is weak.
Now Suites do have their benefits and for many non-tech users a suite covers all the bases and they don’t have to choose multiple products to protect them, in fact many haven’t got a clue what they need so a suite is the easiest option for them.
I have never liked suits and never really will, they all seem resource hungry than standalone products and I like the level of control you have over them that I don’t really see with suits plus if you have a suit and it doesn’t say detect anything on your system I see it that with a number of standalone products chances are one of them will that’s just how I see it was well, plus I like standalone products because if you don’t like one you can remove it completely or replace it you cant do that with suits at least that I know of.
And that is just fine for those with the knowledge and experience, for those without this experience suites serve a purpose.
If it is a trusted company, you won’t have conflicts, integrated security and protection management, simplicity… there are a lot of reasons to prefer a suite. If Alwil release a firewall, won’t we have it integrated with avast like a suite? (well, we’ll have both avast antivirus and firewall… they would be standalone as well integrated, but we’ll have a suite, won’t we?)
I have to agree with this with Tech, AVAST never gave me any kind of conflict and that’s a good reason to install its suite in the next future ;D
Glad to see I’m not alone
I personally prefer to wear my suits and protect my computer with individual garments. ;D
