I am a newbie. I have downloaded and am using Avast4. I love it. My question is about how to remove toolbars on internet explorer that have suddenly appeared. I have gone to the control panel and see nothing that is connected to the toolbar. Also, I have remants of a program (dll) files that I can not remove. I get a notice that I don’t have the rights to remove them, even though I am the administrator on my windows xp. :-[
My question is about how to remove toolbars on internet explorer that have suddenly appeared.Welcome to the forum. What toolbars???

bob…wonder if montana red installed like a package that comes with example-yahoo or google toolbar or such? :o
Normally toolbars can be removed from the control panel.
start > control panel > software > add/remove.
A user with admin rights is NOT the same as the administrator account.
Some files cn only be removed by the real administrator, or they can be locked.
In that case they normally can be removed from safe mode or command prompt.
But be carefull with removing dll files from the system folder, they may be needed by the system.
You might want to try ToolbarCop http://www.snapfiles.com/get/toolbarcop.html
