*** Introducing: beta version of upcoming avast update (now 4.7.1096)

The beta is now over. The update has been officially released as 4.7.1098. Thanks to everyone who helped testing.

Hi *,

again, it’s my pleasure to announce a pre-release version of the upcoming update of avast! Home/Professional, build number 4.7.1083. Edit 11/26: now 4.7.1091; hopefully the last one before release

How to install it (for starters - most people already know this trick anyway ): simply download and run the following program: link removed. That’s about all it takes (provided you have the latest version of avast Home/Pro already installed, of course).

There is a number of fixes in this release. It is also recommended to all users experiencing some problems with the latest official release (4.7.1074) - which does indeed contain a couple of problems, especially if running under Vista.

Any comments on this release are very welcome and appreciated!

Thanks
Vlk

Cool! I will install it right away!!

At this moment installed and - how expected ;D - no problems at all.
Thanks for good work.
Greetings
Tevion

Thanks, just downloaded it, didn’t take as long (dial-up) as I remember with past betas.

A cosmetic one, I just noticed the about avast shows a build date of SEPT2007, this was the same for the 4.7.1074 info on about avast. This was the subject of a topic on the forums shortly after some downloaded 1074.

Yeah, this has usually been the case with all the betas. It will be fixed before the version is officially released (an exception to this was v4.7.1074 which, as I already said, was, ehm, sort of an inadvertence)

Cheers
Vlk

Testing both on XP and Vista…

So far everything works fine.

Same here, work just fine!

For the end user, what does it change?
I see no problem and no changes at all ::slight_smile:

bug fixes are changes too  You need to experience them tech :)) … just be happy there are less of problems after ;D

I’m using it, both in XP and Vista. No problems.
Just that I’m wishing the new avast 5 features and they’re taking so long to appear, even few and little ones…

Up and running oon Vista - No problems noted yet ;D

This beta for both 32 and 64-bits ?

Yes

Works like charm for now

Works fine here on Windows XP Pro

Hi,

I installed the new beta version 4.7.1083 on Vista Business, and when Avast requested to reboot, the PC freeze dead just before booting. It happen twice so far. I wonder what causes that. I had to use the reset button to restart the PC after an avast update.

Ok, this one isn’t directly related to new avast! build but i am hoping for this small fix to be included in it already.
I was installing avast! Home slovenian (SLO) version to my friends laptop and found this one…

The thing is that our belowed slovenian translators did something strange…
Two different translated things for the same function, probably confusing user on what to do with found virus.

After some checking of all words, they seem to use “Virusni Zabojnik” instead “skrinja” in Simple interface GUI too.
So i think it would be best to rename text on button from “Premakni v skrinjo” to “Premakni v Virusni Zabojnik”

Any chance to fix this issue in this build (it’s not that hard  )? I don’t want my friend to be confused when she encounters some malware…

EDIT:
Oh, one more thing. Please add “View Chest content…” option into “a” ball right-click context menu. It’s so damn annyoing to constantly run simple interface just to open it or make shortcuts on desktop (which makes usage of Silent Mode very inpractical). It’s just annoying and i don’t think adding one extra option is so hard not to be included for so long (i was nagging about it very long ago). I’m sure it wouldn’t take pro coder like guys in ALWIL more than 15 minutes (including break time lol).

I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (Finnish) installed and since 28.10.2007 auto update (virus definitions etc) haven’t worked even in this new 4.7.1083 Beta version.

Even update (virus definitions etc) from taskicon menu doesn’t work. Only update from add or remove programs works (virus definitions etc).
