*** INTRODUCING: New Pre-Release version of Avast 6.0.1027 ***

Now replaced by version 6.0.1035: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=74149

Hi everyone,

we will soon be releasing a new program update of avast. And as usual, we’re making it available for public testing a few days before the official release. Edit: now updated to build 6.0.1027.

This is hopefully going to be a smooth service release, designed really just to fix some of the issues of the original v6.0.1000 build.

Here’s the list of the most important changes:

  • solved an incompatibility with ZoneAlarm (WinXP)
  • improved installation of the WebRep plugins (especially Firefox)
  • solved a crash condition in the avast sandbox
  • setup programs now smaller by ~20%
  • Community features and the Welcome screen can now be turned on/off directly from program settings
  • solved an incompatibility with Outpost firewall
  • solved a bug related to the AutoSandbox offer (WinXP)
  • gadget can now be removed by simply closing it
  • new setup icons

And new in v6.0.1027:

  • attempt to fix new compatibility problems with GameGuard and sXe rootkits
  • SafeZone improvements
  • localization updates (including WebRep)
  • improved sandbox logging
  • SafeZone is now a standalone setup package (can be installed/uninstalled separately)

You can either install from scratch, or over an existing installation of avast (any version). Users of the previous pre-release build (6.0.1021) can also use the built-in program updater.

Thanks
Vlk

How about (SMB) problem - getting incomplete listings from shared folders? Has it been solved?

Details are in my topic: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=73581.0

Installed Pro over 1021 from download with no apparent issues. W7x64SP1. Will install Free Vistax32 a bit later.

will upgrade now…

ps: nice about the safezone initiative

Installed on my Windows 7 system but I am going to wait until Privateofcourse and I have the problem resolved on XP:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=73620.msg611301#msg611301

Not fixed in this version yet.

6.0.1021 Real-time protection virtual code using a program call sf.bin make the computer crash but 6.0.1000 don’t have the problem.
did it solve?

Thank you for replying.

How do you think, how much time it will take to fix this problem?
Maybe in the next bild or in the next month?

Wow Vlk, that’s early for a Saturday release. You must have some wild plans for tonight ;D

EDIT : Updated from the Avast! GUI, and everything seems to be OK

still works great… cant wait for the final release

I hope he has. ;D

WebRep does not work with Firefox 4.0 RC1 and Firefox 3.6.15 (plugins are installed), in version 6.0.1000 it works. In IE 8 WebRep works well.
I work with Win7 64 bit and AVAST Internet Security.

Thanks, for another smooth-working release.

True, using IE9 - no problems, for FF4 b12 - listed in addons, but absent in the GUI.

I was just going to try updating to version 6 (from 5.0.677) today when I read about this beta testing starting. After reading about the intended changes… and what my machine has installed… I think I’ll wait until this one is released before I update.

Thanks to Alwil team for always trying to improve your product.

I have installed it but now my WebRep is missing on FireFox o0

FireFox: 4

i don’t find the autosandbox in it ! what’s wrong with it ?

I can confirm the WebRep bug for Firefox 3.6.15. Uninstalling and installing it again from the Avast! GUI doesn’t solve it.
