I installed Avast Home and the restarted my computer I open it and at first it give me the chance to register or continue with the demo. I decided to register it and enter the key and it said it was invalid. Now it doesn’t give me the option for the demo AT ALL.
I’ve tried copy and pasting and I’ve made sure it’s done right
The date and time are set correctly
I’ve checked the tutorial video
I’ve checked the FAQ
I’ve searched through the forums
I’ve attempted to register again 3 times but keep getting the same key and every time they don’t work
I don’t have any anti virus installed (I used to but I uninstalled it before attempting to install Avast)
I have the latest English avast home from the website so it’s not that it’s out of date
With all of this in mind can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong? I’m running Windows XP Media Center Edition if that helps.
Also this is what I get when I say I lost my license key:
Hello,
Somebody, hopefully you, filled in the avast! Home Edition license resend form on page http://www.avast.com/eng/home-license-resend.php?lang=ENG. We are sorry, but we have no record in our database for the email address provided. If you need a license key for avast! Home Edition, please use this online form to get one: http://www.avast.com/i_kat_207.php?lang=ENG
First, there is no “demo” version for Avast Home. Are you certain you didn’t download the Pro version inadvertently?
The home version is ready to go “out of the box”.
We still need to know what the AV was, even if you did uninstall it. Sometimes they leave bits of themselves behind.
Uhh no from what I’ve read in numerous places on the forum you get a 60 day free trial/demo of avast home before have to register the free license (and yes I’m sure I have avast home). And I’m positive the Home asks for a license because my brother who has home had to get a license for his.
Yes, you do get a full “demo” of the home before registration is required.
What had me wondering, is that you say it’s now not working at all. But I believe you; you have the home version.
So, are you going to tell us what your last AV was?
Hopefully the license will work now too, oh and also I had AVG Free and Nod32 (I was one of the idiots who thought having 2 running at the same time equals good lol).
Cool. So far so good.
It would be a might good idea to run the appropriate removal tools.
If you had AVG 8.#,Here is a link to their removal tool, and here is the NOD32 removal tool.
