Iv been monitoring this ip block that i get with malwarebytes for some time now and it is always the same two ip’s and it only happens when im on the avast forum so im wondering why ?
There china addresses 58.218.199.250, 58.218.199.227
I know that it has nothing to do with whatever is on my system as this was happening on my other systems and iv been seeing it on this new system for the last two weeks right from day one of visiting the avast forum with it.
This feature in MBAM is without doubt the worst, I disabled it on both my MBAM Pro installation as it proves to be more hassle than it is worth. I have even seen it block avast IPs.
It would only have to be an image hosted on that IP, like an avatar for it to have a hissy fit.
To do any sort of investigation, you would have to start by posting the url of the avast topic you were trying to connect.
Not sure what avast topics i might have been on before but tonight i left the computer for an hour or so on the avast web forum page then when i came back to the system the MBAM popup was there waiting for me, had no other links open anywhere so its got me stumped, just thought i would ask finally because i haven’t been able to work it out myself after studying this for quite a while now.
Other than that though iv never had it block anything legitimate that i know of and the ip blocking does seem to work quite well as it has stopped alot of nasty things, mainly things that are on pages rather than whole sites so i cant see myself disabling the ip blocking because i believe it does do what it is supposed to.
Haven’t asked them about this exact topic but there were some blocks i queried with them along time ago and basically they said ( looks like MBAM save your butt ) so the only thing i bring up with them anymore is false positives.
Only page i can remember is the avast web forum page from yesterday, dont think there are any images on that page but it more than likely relates to something similar to what you mentioned, not a big deal anyway but thanks for your reply’s.
I’m sure imageshack is one of the sites blocked since I’m now using
my Google cr-48 and I’m able to see images that I didn’t see when I was using my
regular laptop which has MBAM Pro installed.
I haven’t noticed any images being blocked here but on the rare occasion that one is blocked it’s usually adblock doing it, i dont seem to have any problem’s viewing imageshack stuff either.
Just one of those mysteries i guess
