Hello, hope this is the right place for this. I want to thank avast for their previous help. Here’s what happened.
I was posting on a forum and I believe they gave me a virus, the avast professional version I purchased found it and I sent it to my virus chest.
Now can these same people on the forum or admin, steal my IP address and post from it, pretending they are me?
I am sort of computer illiterate, but does this happen often and if so this would be illegal, what do I do?
Thank you very much.
I think avast kept you secure here, as it detected the malware and prevented it from running on your computer a third party that infected the forum site (forum site owner and users could very well be to be trusted) could not have harmed you. I think you are safe.
To be further protected use a more secure browser like Firefox with the NoScript extension installed.
NoScript can be installed into Firefox from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
Also the shields of avast will protect you, and Inshallah you will be secure from malcode,
Now what is happening is that the admin told me someone on the same forum is using my IP proxy, I don’t know anything about how that works. I looked it up and I read about IP spoofing.
I don’t have a fixed IP, so I have no idea and have contacted my browser but they said it was my internet provider who can help with that, but haven’t heard from them.
