Is avast! causing lockups?

I was using avast!,well all the time :slight_smile: Someday strange lockups started to accour. Simply system locked up and sound freezed like when games lockup. At first they were just momentary,but now PC locksup forever.
These lockups did not happened in any specific pattern.
Right now i’m testing if it happens with NOD32 too,but i’d like to use avast! HE :slight_smile:

The only thing that bugs me is that i’m not sure if this also accoured before SP2…

Did you (Alwil team) got any similar reports from other users?

Have you tryed a simple uninstal, reboot, reinstall RejZoR

Sometimes its the simple things that work.

The same was happening when i changed entire disk (new 200GB Maxtor without any bad sectors) with a fresh WinXP SP2 installation. So reinstalling isn’t the case.

Repair function mabey?

Checkdisk, done a defrag?

Simple stuff all they way 8)

Have you checked Avast log file as well as the system log and the event log?

Im no expert but doesn’t this sound like a conflict?

Yeah i know this too,because hardware is almost brand new from top to bottom. I encountered one lockup with NOD32 so i’m not sure if it was really a avast!'s fault. I somehow suspect CPUIdle,but still testing without it. I hope this is the problem,because i don’t want to give away avast! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok one of my frined reported the same thing,but he’s not using avast!,so its not avast!'s fault. He was also using CPUIdle on SP2 machine.
