Started my computer up this morning and I get a notice from the action center, Avast is not on, so I checked avast and it says its on. Is it is isn’t it? The last down load would not download, just said it was broke. This morning it did downloaded.

as you can tell I am not to computer savvy, so please keep your answer simple for this simple old guy.
Try a repair of avast:
Vista, win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair.
This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
