Is Avast Pro A Lot Better Than Avast Home?

So, in answer to my original question about the interface, is it likely to be yes or no or are we in the don’t know stage at the moment?

I would have thought your question would have been answered by Vlk response in an earlier post in this thread.

As a matter of fact we're in the process of considering a "Home Pro Suite" that would basically enable you to install avast Pro on any number of machines in the same household for a fixed (moderate) fee...

Cheers
Vlk

To me “that would basically enable you to install avast Pro on any number of machines in the same household,” means the Pro version with all the current functionality otherwise I feel sure he would have said something about reduced functionality.

However, that is just me, thinking again, dangerous I know.

I’m not sure even with full Pro functionality and Enhanced User Interface it would resolve the issues you stated.

I'm not currently using Avast because of the problems with setting up e-mail scanner with the earlier versions

The reason I say this is the Simple or Enhanced User Interface has nothing to do with the mail settings; you didn’t say what the problem was or what version you were using.

No, it won’t… they belong to the Professional version, not Home not a special promotion (in my opinion). If you don’t like the Simple User Interface, you can use the skinless apearance but the Enhanced Interface is for the Professional version.

What problems? Aren’t they corrected by the last 4.5.549 version?
Are you using BitDefender Professional version, why are you comparing it with the Home (free) of avast? ::slight_smile:

The e-mail scanning problems are corrected by the latest version and that is a great improvement. It’s true that I am using Bit Defender 8 at the moment, but I’m keeping an eye on the development of Avast as I may at some stage decide to return to using it. It’s only the simple user interface that I don’t like.

Well, I’m certainly interested in the new version, which should probably be called Home Suite Home :stuck_out_tongue:

Right now I have different commercial anti-virus programs running on each of my computers, depending on which shipped with the computer, and they are coming up for renewals. I suppose I can use the current Home version now, and purchase the multi-computer household license when it becomes available.

Doesn’t one of the other big names in AV software also provide a multi- (3?) user household version?
