Is Avast Suitable for Windows 8 yet?

Over the past month I tried Windows 8.1. After it was installed I discovered that Windows had uninstalled Avast because it was ‘incompatible’. So clearly from the point of view of Windows 8.1, neither the OS or the antivirus are ready for each other.
On one laptop I also have installed Windows 7 on one partition & Windows 8 on another partition. Recently the gui for Avast stopped working in Windows 8. I can no longer scan or update, etc from that partition & that OS. If I want to update I have to do that from within the installation panel. If I want to scan anything, I have to restart my system in Windows 7 & scan from there. Are the OS or Avast ready for each other? I think not.
But which is the actual problem? Updates in Windows 8 have crashed 2 of my Win 8 computers. The Avast gui is wildly incompatible with my software TV Video screen. I have felt for a long time that as pretty as it looks, the Avast gui is way over-weight & perhaps too fancy to be speedy or adequately friendly with many PCs.
But these are my own experiences, & you know how that goes.
