Is Avast update work immediately after install?

I use avast update via https://www.avast.com/download-update
I have some question:

  1. Is avast update is ready to work immediately after install update, or need to restart Windows to really work? :-\
  2. If I don’t restart immediately, is it affect to anything of system and system integrity?

My question is not user view but technician view.

No need to reboot after a manual VPS update.

If it’s a program update, I would suggest that you restart your system.
