Is Computer Safe after Avast...

Avast found a trojan upon boot scan and moved it to the chest. Subsequent scans turned up no more instances of a virus, trojan, etc. Am I safe now to continue using the computer or ?

Second question, do I need to run a registry cleaner just for good measure?

thanks
Jim

If there are no re-detections and the computer appears to run OK you could be clear. What was the trojan detected ? No registry cleaner needed as they sometimes cause more harm that good

What is the malware name, the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (malware name, C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ? Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections.

This may help us in seeing if there is anything else you might need to do or check.

To be sure, please, schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives. Boot.

It will be good if you download, install, update and run other trojan remover tools: a-squared and/or Free AVG Antispyware (trojan removers). Some users recommend SUPERantispyware or Spyware Terminator.
