Is Freemake Video Converter safe?

First…my apologies if this is in the wrong area of the forums.

I would like to know if Freemake Video Converter is safe or not. I have seen some people saying it is unsafe, and Avast flagged it as being unsafe (I deleted it), but others say it is fine and no need to delete it.

I found FVC VERY useful and am missing it terribly. Is there a safe version of it or some way to make it safe? I read somewhere, sorry can’t recall where and can’t find it now, that it had something about a candy program or file contained inside??? that made it unsafe.

So that is my question, is FVC safe to use? If not safe as it is, is there a way to make it safe without any bits of it that are unsafe returning?

It does come with a lot of crap (open candy amongst other things) and should be at least considered to be a PUP as avast and Malwarebytes do.

The program itself is very good. Just avoid the crapp that it attempts to load when you do the install.
Use the custom install and be careful. I suggest that before you install Freemake, you first install Unchecky

Mine has never given me any trouble. I just scanned with Avast and even Iobit Malware FIghter, both agreed there was no problem.

Eh, Iobit hasn’t given me any trouble whatsoever.

Off topic.

It’s a good program. Just comes with a load of unnecessary stuff as others have said.

It has been pointed out this topic is about Freemake Video Converter, and is not about anything else.
