I have a 256KB connection, But the highest speed I can download at is 166KB. Is it meant to be like that?
And when it is slowed down, it should be 66KB but it goes down to 7KB.

I pay for 6MB and I get it that’s why I like my ISP:

When I do that it says I have 1.43MB download speed. and my internet isn’t that much
This is with my internet slowed

I don’t know what you are complaining about ;D

I always confuse speed tests where on dial-up my upload speed is always higher than the download speed as the compression ratio of my uploads is relatively high at 84% and download at only 8% at the moment.
I have a horible uploading rate…

50 mi, 50 mi, 50 mi and mines is 150 mi!?!?
Its just that should my internet be going at 256KB or less?
And davidR. I couldn’t live with internet that slow :o I like my internet fast =P mostly because I play games
Dono, The upload speed isn’t that bad is it? Why are uploads speeds so slow anyway
Maybe because it has to copy the files DNA and then send the files DNA to the server and the server has to upload the DNA into the blank file? ???
Well that speed is my dream!
If im lucky enough, my speed would slightly increase for about 5 mins^^(once a day)
My average net speed is about 11kbps^^
My maximum net speed(at its peak) is about 50kbps^^(this is the slightly increase im talking about)^^
I feel contented even though when i play online games its a bit laggy^^
hehehe^^

-= I subscribed for a 382kb Internet plan but… I get a speed greater than what I am supposed to have…
-= YoKenny,
Whoooooooping speed…! That was really fast… I wanna try something as fast as that sometime but our country doesn’t seem to have any ISP that will support such tremendous speed…

I pay for “up to 8 Mbps” and get…
EDIT: That’s what they promise for the “near future”- seems my present tariff is 1 Mbps, so not far off.
Well, that’s when it hasn’t dropped out completely.
Just looked up fastest internet, Apparently theres been downloads 10GB/s+ ;D
Think that will become a thing for everyone soon?
My best is download 9.73 mb/s with upload 0.86 mb/s.
Mr.Agent
Right now… in the network I’m connected.

That’s cable right?
The only thing they can boast about.
Glad you declined their offer of their recommended Security Suite though. 8)

I pay for 6Mbps.
No its not cable. I wont say more for my security right. Sorry.
Mr.Agent
Hi Mr.Agent,
For may cable users it is depending on where your next hop is, if your location is not optimal you get the slow end of things, depending on how many users in your block area are on. If we all paid enough for old copper, we will see some of the glass fiber coming in, that will be another experience. I do hope they will not wait for Internet2 being phased in to bring that about,
polonus
Hey polonus you dont have to worry about me. All is fine and if you think its not possible then yes its possible to got a good internet like mine. I did see many more better internet but mine is worth the money and i dont think i will change it. So please dont worry all is in control

Three attempts…Different results (all within about 15 mins of each other)
I guess that this is depending on the demand on the server at the time
Marc57,
Your ISP must be really good, almost the same speed with massively varying distances from the server!!!
Polonus,
Over here there is only one ISP offering the ‘lightspeed’ internet is Virgin Media, dunno how much that is though (and its all down to a Physicist ;D)
