i am using my friend’s computer and when i plug in mg usb drive some unknown file are being transferred into my usb drive with autorun file. when i scan with avast it didnt detect it as virus. is it a virus or not?

Please submit the file to VirusTotal:

http://www.virustotal.com/en/indexf.html

This will show you if any of the AV’s there detect a virus.

If you find it is detected as malware by other AV’s, you can submit it to virus[at]avast.com in a password protected zip file. Mention the name(s) of the malware from jotti and of course the password in the body of the e-mail.

You could also download DrWeb CureIt and scan the USB partition with this non-resident scanner, or as FwF suggest upload the file to jotti or virustotal.
