You have done the right thing, ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest and investigate.
There is no rush to delete anything from the chest, they can’t do any harm there. Anything that you send to the chest you should leave there for a week or two. If after that time you have suffered no adverse effects from moving these to the chest, scan them again (inside the chest) and if they are still detected as viruses, delete them.
I deleted it. WHAT DO I DO!!! :-[
:-* :-\ :-X ??? :o ![]()
I have windows XP and I have the newest version. Got it today, after I got a trojan. I deleted and I am scared!!11!! :-\
I won’t worry that much now…
Trojans can’t be repaired, just sent to Chest or deleted.
What were you doing at that time, I mean, when the virus alarm sounded? Sending email, browsing…?
Well, long story actually. I was browsing the net, on regular sites, when I clicked one of the affiliates. So when I opened the site, massive pornagraphic images, and popups came up, couldn’t delete em’. Turned off computer, turned it back on, clicked my screenname, and I had a Trojan!!! (And I though they were CONDOMS) So then I Looked around the net for a virus protector. BINGO!!! Norton Anti-virus, and Win Virus. too bad they cost 35$!! So I looked around the net, (With time running quickly! I was afraid of the virus doing something to my computer.) for FREE virus deleters. Went through 34 sites. I was going to give up and let the trojan take over. Until one last click… AVAST! IT WAS FREE!!! I COULD SAVE MY COMPUTER FOR FREE!!! I scanned my hard drive found the virus and threw it in the chest. Thanks to Avast!!
(Please post this as a testimonial sticky, and dont include this part.) ;D
But seriously, is my computer alright?

Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan.
Doing so displays a dialog allowing you to schedule virus scanning.
Check Archives, if you want scan all the archives.
Specify whether all the disks or just a specific folder should be scanned.
Select Advanced options for scheduling details.
Select how to automatically process infected files.
Choose how to automatically process infected system files.
Click the Schedule button to confirm the settings.
Post the results…
Oh, send infected files to Chest instead of deleting them.
System files, just post here if any of them is infected, don’t delete them.
Hi Jdid :
If you were surfing the net without even an antivirus
program, what else do you have or NOT have in the way
of protecting your computer from all the "malware" out
there !? I recommend you read "Newbie and Oldie's list" at
http://members.acessbee.com/mitch/PhantomPhixer.html .
It has lots of good and FREE programs to help .
What I find strange is if you didn’t have an AV installed how did you know you had a trojan ?

There are some malware programs (rogue/suspect anti-spyware, etc. programs) that alert you to the fact you are infected in the hope that you will buy their anti-virus solution, when they themselves are more of a problem than the solution. Before purchasing any anti-spyware program check it out at http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm.
As for the redirect an pop-ups your browser could be hijacked and/or has Adware on it.
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.
One other essential in your systems security is a firewall, the xp firewall is better than none but one that provides outbound protection also is advised (stop any malware connecting to the internet), what is your firewall ?
