Is it me or does my web browsing seem faster with the latest version of Avast Home? I also use Zone Alarm Anti-spyware, and not only does my Internet seem more responsive, but so does my PC. Just curious.
Difficult to say… but I’m not seeing any improvement with the last version.
Anyway, I don’t use ZA and then I can’t test the interaction between avast and the firewall.
There is by all accounts a bug in ZA when used with Vista that slows all network connections.
I noticed in the Program Version History page for 4.7.1098 that there is a “Web Shield: compatibility improvements” I don’t know if this is trying to get around the ZA issue or if it might be responsible for the improvements you are seeing.
I too don’t use ZA haven’t done so for absolutely years, so I can’t test either.
Thanks for the replies. I use Windows XP and only have 512MB of Ram, but Avast and ZonelAlarm Anti-spyware still run well together. There is a message when installing ZoneAlarm products about possible problems with using ZA’s Privacy Blocking feature and the Avast Web Shield together, but that feature is in ZoneAlarm Pro and the Internet Security Suite versions, and not ZAAS. It gives an option to turn off something in Avast, but I can only remember something about Avast’s Transparity something or other. Anyway i like this combination so far, but i have used Online Armor free with Avast and they also ran very well together. see ya’s.
The bug that David said is not the conflict warned while installing avast.
There is a bug on Vista (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=31185.msg259127#msg259127) version of ZA but I don’t know if it is present on XP installations.
