Is it necessary to uninstall/re-install?

Hi –

Avast is installed on a friend’s computer at my recommendation. She undoubtedly installed it with whatever choices were default instead of doing a custom installation.

The problem is that “something” is stripping all except very basic code from her HTML emails that are received in Outlook Express. She is trying to see stationery pieces but cannot. We believe that the problem is Avast.

Advice received from other forums is to uninstall Avast then reinstall it, choosing the Custom Installation option, and deselecting Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange.

Because she “gets nervous” about uninstalling/installing programs, I was wondering if there was an easier way.

Thanks.

I can’t believe you’ve received a suggestion of letting your emails without scanning…
avast does not change the email contents, just scans them.
Does she use any spam killer application? Which is her operational system? XP?
Does she use any other antivirus before avast?
