Is it possible to download virus definitions in a single compressed file?

I’ve got dial-up internet at home, and can download a maximum of 120MB, which takes over 7 hours to do. The problem being that the virus definitions of Avast Free 2016.11.1.2253 seem to be larger than this because they never complete downloading. They start re-downloading from the beginning, and nothing else can be done on the internet while this is happening.

I take my laptop out and connect to wi-fi to download that size of file in well under an hour. I’m wondering if the definitions come in a single, compressed file that I could download on my laptop, then open on my desktop to install. Mind you, I’m not sure if any part of this can work. Just asking. Thanks for any help.

Running Avast Free 2016.11.1.2253 on an eMachines loaded with XP SP3.

The full virus definitions database can be downloaded from here - https://www.avast.com/download-update.

Ensure that you get the correct download for the avast version on your system that is on dial-up.

For avast 2014 to 2016 that file size is 64.5MB.
