hi Peano,

Best way to avoid installation of Chrome is to not use the default install settings.

You do this by looking for a custom installation option where you get to untick Google Chrome when first beginning the install process for the first time. Here you will also have the option of unticking other options such as Software Updater, etc., if you like. Also known as expert/advanced install or custom install.

Tip: Upgrading within the main program version usually works out well for the vast majority of users, but moving up to a newer main program version, say to upcoming 9.0 from 8.0.1489 usually works better if you completely uninstall the old version first, reboot, and then install the newest version. Just be sure to save your license file first if using a paid version of avast! to have it handy later to validate the newest version after installing it.

Just use the installer back button to ensure you have everything the way you want it before going ahead with the install.

Reason for this is because Chrome is set as an opt-in install and is not automatically an opt-out. The user must opt-out.
