Is it safe to install Avast on Windows 7?

I just installed Windows 7. Now I need an anti-virus.
Does Avast work properly with Windows 7?

Thanks for the Link. I’m using the release canditate. Not sure if thats different from the Beta. Anyway i’ll read that link and search the forum like that other person said before deciding.
