Is it safe to remove such keys?

I know… I know… Messing with the regedit can break windows…

I was googling after i made the explorer.exe to small and wanted it back to exactly the default… I found stuff that said deleting shell bags in the registry would return it to default… I did it and rebooted my system rebooted fine but just took a few minutes for stuff like icons to show up…

did i frank up my system a little, and should i do system restore to restore my PC before i did such changes?

Was it safe to remove them even?

I wouldn’t have done it in the first place. How did you Modify Explorer? I’ve never heard of that being done…

You don’t happen to have ERUNT, do you?

@ Coolmario88,
Asking after the fact is like asking if the lifeboats work after the ship is already sinking…

How did you make it too small ?
If you can remember that, reverse what you did. If you didn’t make it too small by using the registry edit, then you shouldn’t need to have to use it to correct what you did.

The one thing that I don’t understand, ‘what do you mean by making it too small’ (are we talking text size or what) ?

I know you posted explorer.exe (Windows Explorer), but there is a close colleague iexplore.exe (Internet Explorer). Hopefully the answers to other questions will make this clear.

Guys I decided to use system restore to restore the keys i removed before better to be safe than sorry…

I didn’t change windoews file explorer i meant i changed how big the Window of it was, like how you can change the position it opens up at and stuff… Probably best for me to not worry about such things like i did and mess with the registry over something that stupid… xD

Or you backup your registry first

That said, I still recommend you to start with regular ( weekly ) image backups.
It will give you a peace of mind that you can always restore your pc exactly to a previous date/state.

When you open up an explorer window you can resize and reposition it. When using the X to close the window keep the Ctrl key pressed as you use the X to close the window.

That should remember the size and location, occasionally it mat change for unknown reason, just repeat the previous exercise, resize, reposition and Ctrl key and X to close the window.
