Hi All, I’m just checking to see if it’s safe to restore a file that was put in the chest during a scan, if when it is scanned again in the chest, the result says no virus.
Thanks

upload the file to http://virustotal.com.
If the majority say it’s clean, then you’re probably fine.
ok thanks Michael, now for a really stupid question… how do I upload the file from the virus chest to virus total?
When I click on choose file & I open up “look In” box, where can I find the virus chest? I have looked in program files & avast folder but can’t see chest anywhere.

Sorry Pondus I’ve already read through all of that before I posted but that doesn’t help me to be able to upload the file to virus total or am i missing something?
How do I locate the files in the virus chest via the choose file button in Virus Total?
You restore it from chest to orginal location first…or a folder of your choise…then you can upload to virustotal
OK, I kind of wondered that, but is restoring it back onto the computer, not a potential hazard if it is an infected file?
Potential yes… dont run the file, just restore and upload to VT … or delete it from chest and its gone, your choise
Exactly what pondus said. If the program was that imperative to the “infection” the file path would have to be the same. put it on your desktop and you should be fine.
