Had problems with pop-up messages when a thread or a suspicious file was found (only option was to “deny access” else the pop-up would just repeat itself again and again) and it wasn’t possible for me to quarantine files on Windows 8, while Windows 7 worked fine with Avast2014.

Another annoying things of 2014 are:

  • no ignore (and exclude) function for suspicious files/programs (Evo-gen messages) in the dialog boxes anymore
  • the removal of the option to remove one specific log file (because I’d like to keep only the boot-time or full scans and to get rid of the many small context menu on-demand scans)
  • the fact, that the settings and updates are in a different window than the one where you can start the anti-virus scans and that you have to visit the main page of the program to start a full and/or boot time scan

While I might deal with the latter two (even if I really dislike it), the first one and the problems with it on Windows 8 have made me switch back to Avast 8.
