Is mbamservice.exe a valid program?

Is mbamservice.exe a valid program? It seems to be taking up alot of Memory Usage?

do you have Malwarebytes installed  and protection module ON

Yes, I had thought that it was a malewarebytes file, but it seemed to be much more memory intense than I had noticed before. Perhaps I just never noticed before. I just noticed because I had a ‘low memory’ warning, but I have been deleting large numbers of files this week just as a spring cleaning, but it seems that the disk space is going in the wrong direction, or at least not moving in the right direction. So I was looking to see what was running that required so much resources. Maybe it has been that way all along (although it really isnt high on CPU usage - just memory)

MBAM does use a lot of resources if you have the Pro version running resident protection, just look at the image and see how far down the list the two avast processes come.

Firefox is my biggest, but I have lots of add-ons and tabs open and MBAM next. But what is the point of RAM if not to be used, its like buying a car and not using it.

Crucially what you don’t say is how much memory that you have and what Operating System you are using ?

Low memory warning is really nothing to worry about, it is time to review what other application that you allow to run in the background.

You can see my system spec from my signature and I don’t have a huge amount of RAM 2GB but I have never had an issue with RAM on my XP Pro system.

Wow, you’re not wrong about that! 397,912k!!! ;D

So in the bigger scheme of things mbamservice isn’t the only issue, mt123 has to be selective on what you have running in the background, but with only essential processes running. Open a program when required and close it when done and let windows manage memory as it should.

Firefox only looks so big when you see it all bundled into one process. Just open IE8 or higher and open several tabs and you will see many instances of iexplore.exe add those up and you will get a shock. And don’t forget a lot of what is Internet Explorer is embedded into the OS so you will never see its true resource use when comparing against a browser that is stand alone, firefox, chrome, etc.
