Is safe to delete logs files?

For example if i run CCleaner, it detect logs in C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log. My question is simple. It is safe delete those logs? Thanks

log files are just that, a log of what has happend and safe to delete

I would tell ccleaner not to take any action on avast.

Whilst these logs could be deleted as when required they would be regenerated. But you lose all of the data contained in them, so should you experience any problem you have nothing to look at or send to the developers if requested.

If you look at most of the sizes of these log files, they are pretty small, if you are getting that short of space you are looking at an HDD drive update.

Avast does its own auto cleanup and you can set log file sizes - AvastUI > Settings > General > Maintenance - see image.

I didn’t say all (the ones in the image would appear to be OK), some might well be protected by the self-defence module. But I emphasise again the need to delete logs is pretty futile in the bigger scheme of things, massive HDDs, etc.

Yes there are occasions when a log or file can get pretty big and require attention but that I would say is an exception.

This version of Avast is ok, but in version 12 after full system scan, log about 90MB was created each time.

I suspect you have changed the log file settings on the default settings it should be much smaller, my last full system scan log is 2KB.

I’m running another full scan from 17.2.2287 beta.

I don’t know which log it was, but doesn’t matter, now i have latest version of Avast.

If it was after the full system scan, then the file would be named “Full System Scan.txt” if you change the report file to report everything paranoid logging instead of the default infected items and hard errors.

Select the other three options, especially the last and it gets big very quickly.

Creating a scan log or not wouldn’t have made any difference. I believe even if you don’t have the creation of the log enabled there is still Scan History entry for some time after the scan.

AswAr1.log was that huge file. In this version has 1,5MB, but in version 12 was too huge.
