Is the firewall hindering e-commerce?

Hi forum members,

There is a discussion going on among people that want to do away with firewalls (the Jericho forum) and those who do not want to give it up.
Those against (some) firewalls are members of a group that want to make firewalls expendable, because it is hindering e-commerce.
This is a discussion for network owners, will it have implications for home users also? Read about this: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3649/is_200507/ai_n14718369

What is your opinion on this matter?

greets,

Of course, it was expected… big shots as always just think about their e-commerce or how to make even more money. Like normal regular internet user should even care what kind of problems they have because of firewalls… oh my God, end of the World if they don’t make enough money, million times more than they really need. Greedy, greedy people…

To be true, I don’t believe they can do that, and I’m sure they will just keep yelling, nothing else.

When everyone’s system is trashed and they can’t safely use e-commerce or any other sites for that matter, they may see their short sighted outlook has screwed them too, no customers.

It is up to them to ensure their e-commerce systems conform to standards, so firewalls that also conform to standards shouldn’t present any barrier to their business.

I have yet to come across a firewall that has obstructed e-commerce.

However, I have come across a number of poorly designed e-commerce web sites that wont work with browsers that conform to standards and only work with IE because that browser and they have used proprietary coding that doesn’t conform to standards.
