So when got up today avast had a warning ! triangle on the icon so i looked to see and it said web shield was off, I never shut it off so either it never turned on when the PC rebooted for updates or a glitch or idk. Anyway i thought i’d do a scan and it found 2 JS:Miner trojans in the Brave browser which i haven’t used is months. I’m sure the threats aren’t a huge issue i deleted them and i’m rescanning. But anyway is there a way so Avast needs a password to turn off a shield or perhaps display a pop up every so often, to be like hey a shield is down or don’t forget you turned it off. I’m on windows 10 and is i never clicked on the ^ and seen what was running i would have never known.
Yes, Avast UI > Settings > General > Password - Protect Avast with a password, enter your password and select the options you want protected. I would suggest that you write that down somewhere, if you forget it, uninstall becomes different (you would have to use the Avast Uninstall tool.
The problem (as I see it) is, if there is a problem (as in the other post you posted in) if this is a program glitch, then a password is unlikely to make any difference as nothing is trying to disable the Web Shield.
Agree if its a glitch the shield will fail to load but say if a unsophisticated virus tries to shut it off it won’t be able too.
And the instructions that I gave should counter that occurrence.
The additional information I gave was as a result of your other post.
