Is there a log file that shows what processes are connecting to Mail Scanner?

I started this thread a while back to find out about the Mail Scanner: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=16854.0

And I noted that sometimes the Mail Scanner would stay open with attempted connection to “unknown.ord.scnet.net

I have no idea what domain this is and I’ve tried an nslookup, dig, etc. on it and come up with nothing. Google barely has a cache of scnet.net, but it yields no real info.

Is there a log file that can tell me what processes are connecting thru the mail scanner? I suspect spyware, but that could be paranoia talking since there is no other evidence of spyware/viruses on my system.

It might prove useful to create (for a while) a more detailed avast! log of your mail connections.

You can get the mailscanner to log your connections by editing the avast4.ini file (in Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA folder).

In the section headed:

[MailScanner]

add the line:

Log=20

and save the updated file.

The log will be in Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\log\ashmaisv.log

(and for other readers … Alan is aware that, this evening, he is sounding like the player of a one string violin … but c’est la vie).
