IS There a pdf reader that responds more than CoolPDFReader?

Hello, i uninstalled adobe reader and i installed the zip folder of CoolPDFReader with the .exe file in it and it works but i tried reading a avast pdf user guide file and it had made the the pdf reader stop respoding on me.

So is there any standalone pdf reader that responds better?

Foxit Reader works very well for Me.

I find Pdf xchange the best for me, the free version has load’s of options and very lite and fast.

Foxit was also quite good but the clarity is not as good as pdf xchange.

There’s no reason you can’t have any number of PDF readers installed. E.g. Acrobat exports selected pages better than others but you may not want to use it as default.

Why would anyone want or need more than one pdf reader and as for adobe reader and acrobat it’s bloated rubbish.
The op has already gotten rid of adobe and is looking for something better performance wise.

+1 for PDF-XChange…!!

I’ve found Nitro pdf reader very good.
Tried Adobe, Foxit (also good) and ExtractNow.

Nitro seems to be the best so far, as a simple, non-buggy reader. http://www.nitroreader.com/

I made my choice and so i download Foxit Reader. Thanks for your help everyone.

Just be careful and do a Custom Install and look before you click so you don’t install the Ask_Toolbar and ebay_toolbar.

That is what I did, I didn’t install the toolbars.

It may seem anachronistic but the answer to your question is in my post. Op. cit. “Acrobat exports selected pages better than others”

“Acrobat exports selected pages better than others” If you think so ;D. The question was rhetorical

I have tried Foxit. Wasn’t bad but when it came to uninstalling it was horrible. Every time I accessed a pdf file on the web it asked me if I wanted to install it again. Checked IE add ons and nothing. Went under file associations and .pdf was gone. Adobe reader was still installed. Tried ccleaner to remove these entries without success. Had to manually remove appr. 20 entries from the registry. Don’t know if anyone else has had this problem or if it is an isolated event but I won’t be installing it again.

Seemed like a good old fashioned hijacking.

EDIT: Apparently it is not just me. Here is a post that I just found regarding this.

There are 5 pages on this. Dates clear back to 2005.

Sounds like you still have the foxit browser add-on enabled and running.

I agree that PDF Xchange is very very good. It’s very fast and opens any file I have tried. It also has more configuration options than you will ever need and I turned off many things that were enabled by default. It’s also a lot lighter than Adobe.

I don’t have that problem anymore after deleting all of the stray registry entries. I had checked add-ons before cleaning up the registry and there was no add-on from foxit.

Well I say add-ons, but technically it would be a plug-in I would think.
