Is there a progress indicator of any kind?

I’m sure this has been asked before, but strangely I wasn’t able to find it in a search of the forums.

My search has been running for over 7 hours (currently 6096 files scanned on high sensitivity) and there seems to be no indication of when it will be done.

Is there any sort of way to see a progress indicator?

There is a % indication in the simple user interface (skin) and in the session tab of enhanced interface.
There isn’t a time to be done indicator or estimative.

Indeed, thorough scanning should be run very few times if you have avast running as resident.
Welcome to forums.

Well there is no High sensitivity in the on-demand scan, Quick, Standard and Thorough are the three options.

High relates to the Standard Shield on-access scanner sensitivity, Normal is the default and provides the best balance between performance and protection.

However, 7 hours for 6096 files is an indication (at least to me) there is something wrong, unless you are running something like a Pentium III CPU with virtually no RAM which is probably not the case.

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

What other security software do you have installed ?
