Is there a way to choose certain "threats" to do different "actions" after scan?

Just had full system scan. 4 hd’s on this pc. Some items are not marked w/ threat level, but they are inaccessible to avast! due to be password encrypted (AVG files). Other files are .exe’s that I need to keep, but are on a hd that was from a previous XP install, and my current Win7U32 install will not allow permission to view them - I need to keep them, but am unable to go directly to the file to move it, change it, etc at this time. Only one threat was high. I wanted to move only the high threat file to the chest or delete it. I know it’s a virus, I want it gone.

When the scan results showed, on the avast! v7 free, I had no choice to choose one infected file to delete and leave the others, or move the others to the chest. I could only do one action to all items listed from the scan. I could not find a setting to change this. R-clicking, L-clicking, nothing worked to pick out one file from the others. I then chose to move them all to the chest, thinking I could retrieve the ones I wish to keep. Now I cannot find that capability either.

My preference would be to be able to choose which files to take different actions upon. Other choice would be to look at “threat” chest and restore some files, and/or delete some from there. What is the chest for, if I cannot access it to make changes? I’ve clicked on everything I can find. What am I missing?

Thank you so much for any/all help!

Brain-dead geek, new to avast! from AVG.

We would need to see an image (screenshot) of the results window produced at the end of the scan as you ‘can’ select actions for individual ‘detections’ before clicking the Apply button. Or list those file names, location and

Note I said ‘detections,’ as only detections will have any permissible action.

In the results list avast also lists files that can’t be scanned, such as ‘Password protected files/archives.’ The fact that a file can’t be scanned doesn’t mean that they are somehow suspect/infected, just that they can’t be scanned and avast is informing you of those files and why they couldn’t be scanned.

In these cases (files that can’t be scanned) you don’t want to be taking any move to chest/deletion actions, so the individual action for that file can’t/shouldn’t be selected. If you want further clarification you can investigate why the file might legitimately not be able to be scanned, then seek that clarification here in the forums. But we would need to know the file name, its location and the reason why it can’t be scanned, etc.

If these are all A V G related then I would imaging that after you uninstall A V G then these files would no longer feature in the results.
