is there a way to scan on bootup?

i try to look for a option to enable it to scan as the system boots up.
when i first instill it scan as it rebooted the system after it instill in the 1st time around it lake longer but i feel it a better way to scan almost as scanning in safemode.

Chief, put a shortcut to the following command in your startup folder:

\sched.exe /A:*

This will schedule the boot-time scan every time you start a machine, taking effect on the next reboot.

Could be added in the next version as a new feature :stuck_out_tongue:

What exactly do you mean?

I guess MHJ means that there could be a checkbox in the scheduler dialog - “Make permanent” (i.e. don’t run only once).

I don’t think it’s very useful, however.

thank you made it as you said /A* into the shortcut and added to the startup folder.

it did not work sched.exe" /A:*, so got me thinking i seen it some were then it hit me.
In run: msconfig/startup i seen qttask by QuickTime had it startup in bootup it was mark with exe" -bootup after exe" -bootup it reads in the startup now:
“C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\sched.exe” -bootup i added in -bootup it work good did the scan as it bootup before getting to desktop

sorry this did not work for me ( it is in the startup folder shortcut)

Target box:“C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\sched.exe” /A*

this did work: Target box:“C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\sched.exe” -bootup

running Windows Xp Pro SP1 NTFS (OEM) at home
it ran really nice and found no virus at all thanks for your help for bootup scan " -bootup will scan as it bootup.

I meant that it maybe could be a nice feature to add a bootup scan as requested by CHIEF, but an easier way not adding a shortcut to the startup folder, that’s not very comfortable. Maybe only scanning memory and main system files as it does when you start the scanner manually.

there is a option for it i found it inside the manul boot-scan how to get it to work by the step:
1.) click-on the “ball A” lookup “start avast! Antivirus” click-on it.
2.) it start-up scan mem then after the main body come up, now click-on the “Manul button” lookup “schedule boot time scan” now see a new windows popup with option in it.
3.) at bottom see “Schedule” click-on it.
4.) click “Yes or No” Click-on “Yes”
5.) your finsh it will now reboot the system and do the scan as it bootup.

Its already in it, i did not see any information for it? so i gone looking around and found it.

boy do i feel like a dummie for not looking around, was trying to find a asker easy to get it to work.

Chief, that’s of course true but you’d have to do this every time. The schedule only takes place once, it’s not recurrent.

thats cool :P, i like it to do on ever bootup, if i have to do each time thats fine with me, can never tell if i get a worm again ;D

up to now its been doing great love it ;D thanks for a sweet program. love this forum way it setup to use all them options are really nice.
