I just installed avast free edition. I have not tried many different antivirus software so I’m not sure if the uninstaller and the secure delete features are standard with most antivirus software or not. With my older antivirus software there was a secure uninstaller that uninstalled programs and then wiped any traces left in the registry and other leftover files. I noticed avast has an update center that keeps track of programs that needs to be updated so I am hoping it has an uninstaller also. Please let me know if either free or paid version of avast has these features. Thanks
No, the software updater only informs you if there are newer versions of (certain) applications that you have installed.
The original developers are responsible for updates / uninstall tools.
If you want to remove something:
- do it through control panel
- check the developers website if they have a uninstall tool and if so, run it
- Run CCleaner and/or Glary Utillities to remove many (sometimes all) leftovers
For avast specific use avast! cleaner: http://files.avast.com/beta9x/avast_clear.exe
And RejZor’s avast cleanup tool http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/ scroll
down a bit to find the download link.
