Is there Avast! version 4.7.1051?

I saw in the internet, no exactly where :stuck_out_tongue: :-[, but searching we find avast 4.7.1051. Is there this version? Thanks.

Hi,

you can always check our website for the latest versions of avast!:

http://www.avast.com/index.html

just check the left side.

The current version is 4.7.1043.

It would be nice if you could repeat your search and report where you found this, I did a google search for avast 4.7.1051 and found zero hits. The best place to confirm and download avast is as MarKvi said is the avast.com web site, that way you know for sure.

4.7.1051 was an internal build (with a lifetime of a few days or even hours) and I doubt it got anywhere public.

Btw, right now, we are at 4.7.1063 with the internal builds (actually, you can see that on the WHS Edition announcement page).

So does that mean that we are due a program update or are the changes only required to work with the new WHS Edition ?

Yes, there will be an update… also to make it work with WHS Edition.

BTW 4.7.1051 is what VirusTotal currently uses… that’s where you probably saw it.

Why do you release an internal version to virustotal?
Won’t you release it first at beta here?

Gotcha, exactly there. I submitted a suspect file found in the work to Virustotal. In the morning of that day google returned some pages (all from forums), but now it returns no result. When I get back to the work next monday I will submit it to Avast! team too.

Thanks for clarifying us Vlk.

Why do you release an internal version to virustotal? Won't you release it first at beta here?

Why?

Sorry Tech but avast is a private business not an open source collective and it makes its decisions based on that. It is not dependent on these forums for approval of its business release decisions.

Well, it’s not really a betaversion (of the program) - it’s an updated version of the engine (scanner & unpackers). The engine is under continuous development… and we don’t release a betaversion each time I add or modify something in the unpackers (which would be every other day). Besides, this isn’t really something that can easily be tested (unless you have a HUGE collection of malicious files).

I don’t think there was anything special about this build… just that somebody decided that we might update the engine on VirusTotal, and the current engine (at that time) was used. The same may be true for Jotti, G-DATA AVK, …

{evil grin} i guess some don’t read enough :P{evil laugh}

I never wrote, or even thought, they need to ask for permission or approval…
Why did you think so?

I’m asking to know and Igor answered me 8)
