Is This a Virus or Malicious Program

I have a source that’s trying to change something in C:\Windows|Temp\insx6B62.tmp\nsExec.dll . I had a virus that slipped through Avast within the past week PUP:\Win32:IBryte-BY[PUP] Could it be related to this virus or another virus or malicious program?

Thanks!

nsexec.dll is a module Non-system processes like nsexec.dll originate from software you installed on your system.

since located in a Temp folder it can be cleared using TFC … http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/files/file/187-tfc-temp-file-cleaner-by-oldtimer/

Never mind my response. I figured it out. Sorry.

Thank You,

Hi,

Feel free to run these tools. They ( OTL and aswMBR ) are non-invasive tool who possess a wide range of diagnostic possibilities.
TFC is excellent small utility that shall clean up junk and temp files.
Malwarebytes is preliminary scan as it shall scan & remove targeting malware. All tools we give to you are valid and trust. You may read our disclamer.

Hi lauriwakefield,

What’s happening here is that you’ve gotten a standard answer when an user says they’ve been infected.

This link has programs you need to download onto your system and then run them: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

First four three programs only are needed to begin:

  • AdwCleaner
  • Malwarebytes
  • OTL
  • aswMBR.exe

Each will produce a log you can attach here in your next reply. Don’t copy/paste them as they will require a lot more work from you. It’s much faster and simpler to attach all logs.

Please do as Magna86 says. He is a certified and qualified malware expert that will be helping you once you attach your logs.

You don’t have to do the other work suggested other than what is posted here now that he is here.

[EDIT:] Thanks for mentioning that.

ADWCleaner is no longer needed, only in special cases used if you read that topic.

Yep as MBAM is now more aggressively targeting the PUP’s that AdwCleaner took care of

Yep, they changed that some months ago.
