Yes, that may be a helpful to decide whether a link is software or not.
I choose to download the SSI scanner which doesn’t take long to run the various sections of the scanner. But, I’m not sure of it’s results. In the first picture below, I know all of those and know they are ok … particularly the avast one.
Some favorites links were listed as unknown … including the Avast home page and the Secunia home page (not shown below).
EDIT:
The light color of the scanner background makes it hard to read.
Also, there is a small fee for removal. Fortunately, there is nothing I need to remove.

It flags spyware and it flags things unknown to its database,
when you see they are perfectly OK, that is what it is.
I was clean exept for an old modem file for a PCI Modem, no sweat, it could not recognize. Just for additional scanning.
And while you use it an scans are added, the scanner gets better

Yes, I was clean. I just mentioned the above items because I would think they would already be known.
