Is this trojan horse warning real?

I just had a pop-up appear. It has “avast! Warning” in the title bar, an animated radiation symbol, the words “A Trojan Horse Was Found!”, file name,
malware name, malware type, and VPS version.
There is a button titled Abort connection in a box labeled “processing.” There is a box labeled Statistics

Is this a legitimate avast warning and should I click on the “Abort connection” button?

thanks

yes and by the description you give it appears that you are using avast 4.8....

and can you post the URL you entered when this happend ( and use hxxp or wxw so the link is not clickable )

Yes, it looks like the Web Shield detecting an infected element in/on the page you were visiting. The only option is to Abort the connection, which drops that download so it shouldn’t get on your system and into the browser cache, etc. and run.

Does the image look like this 4.8 web shield alert ?

That’s the alert I got. I had not seen that anywhere and there was no avast! logo.

thanks.

This is the site I was at when the alert appeared: hxxp://www.fixya.com/search/p520452-pioneer_vsx_84txsi_7_1_channels_receiver/firmware

You’re welcome.

Looks like you just got hit by a malicious search hit (which is a bit strange as all the search returns on on their site), interestingly I was able to visit that link and no alerts received. So whatever was there isn’t any longer.

Jepp, no warning here on avast 5, and no hit on VirusTotal…

and why not go for avast 5…
Avast! Free Antivirus 5.0.545 http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
