isiwizard/wuaudit.exe

I seem to have been infected with Win32:BitCoinMiner-CA [Trj] in \AppData\Local\Temp\iswizard\wuaudit.exe. It’s driving me nuts as Avast doesn’t seem to be able to remove it. I also tried using MalwareBytes to remove it but it says it successfully removed it, yet it immediately appears again. I tried scheduling a boot scan using avast, but my Windows 8 OS failed to load when I did this and instead I got a black screen and had to physically reset the pc a number of times to get it to load. Any idea how this virus can be removed? :frowning:

Hi this is relatively easy to remove

Download OTL to your Desktop
Secondary link

[*]Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/OTL_Main_Tutorial.gif

[*]Select All Users
[*]Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

netsvcs
BASESERVICES
%SYSTEMDRIVE%*.exe
dir “%systemdrive%*” /S /A:L /C
CREATERESTOREPOINT

[*]Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
[*]When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
[*]Attach both logs

Thanks for the quick reply! Attached are the resulting two files. Should it be cleared now you think?

probably not … as first run is usually just a diagnostic log
he create the fix after he see this log … unless he did some new trick now.

duh that was stupid of me - now that you mention it, I was asked to press the Run Scan and not the Run Fix button  I got carried away i think! Will wait for further instructions

then run OTL again as instructed in Essexboys post … and attach new logs
the run fix button is to be used when he has created a fix to run…

logs I attached before were of the Run Scan as requested. But i should have also realised that Run Scan was not going to do any fixes… as yet

Hi you did press the scan button

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/OTL_Fix.GIF

:Commands
[CREATERESTOREPOINT]

:OTL
O4 - HKU\S-1-5-21-461629468-585264572-2147253407-1001..\Run: [tsiVideo] C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\tsiVi032.dll ()

:Files
C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\iswizard

:Commands
[resethosts]
[emptytemp]
[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Thanks for the quick reply! I ran the fix and quick scan as requested - log files attached…

Could you confirm the alerts have ceased

we’re now clear!

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Run AdwCleaner and press uninstall

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

Clear Restore Points

Go Start > All Programmes > Accessories > System tools
Right click Disc Cleanup and select run as administrator
When it pops up at the first prompt select OK after it has done some calculations the tabs will appear
Select More Options tab
Press Sytem Restore and Shadow Copies Cleanup button

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

Malwarebytes.

Update and run weekly to keep your system clean

Download and install FileHippo update checker and run it monthly it will show you which programmes on your system need updating and give a download link

If you use on-line banking then as an added layer of protection install Trusteer Rapport

It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. To keep your operating system up to date visit
[*]Microsoft Windows Update

Thanks for everything

My pleasure, keep safe

Hello essexboy, I made the first step, but OTL didn’t give me two .txt files… just one: OTL.txt and here there is a wide report. What should I do? I don’t understand what I must paste… your code is an example?:

:Commands
[CREATERESTOREPOINT]

:OTL
O4 - HKU\S-1-5-21-461629468-585264572-2147253407-1001…\Run: [tsiVideo] C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\tsiVi032.dll ()

:Files
C:\Users\Daniel\AppData\Local\Temp\iswizard

:Commands
[resethosts]
[emptytemp]
[Reboot]

Thank you in advance.

Each code is specific to a single system and if used on another it may well have an unpredictable result. You need a fix crafted specifically for you.

Please run OTL and attach the log please

Thanks for answer… Ok, I understand that… my OTL.txt file is 271 Kbytes, and that’s all I have… there’s no Extras.txt file. I am in windows 8. Thank you again for your patience!

Attach the log and then I will make a fix for you

Ok… here it is…
