Issue with AIS 'Sandbox' and Google Toolbar in Firefox

Recently I have installed Avast Internet Security and had Firefox running in the Avast ‘sandbox’. At some point, ‘sandbox’ has disabled my Google Taskbar while it is active. While in ‘sandbox’, the taskbar does not appear in the View/Taskbars option or on Firefox. If I remove the ‘sandbox’, the taskbar reappears both in the option and on Firefox. I am running Firefox 3.6.13, Google Taskbar 7.1 and Avast IS 531.889. How can I solve this problem so that the toolbar is exhibited whether I’m running Firefox in the ‘sandbox’ or standard mode? Any useful information is appreciated. Thank you.

Since posting this on Firefox forum, I have updated both java and flash to latest versions. Still no solution to problem. Thank you.

This just a suggestion as I haven’t tried it yet. You might try installing the Google taskbar while firefox is running in the sandbox. This just might give you a sandboxed install where firefox can get to it. Both would then be running in the sandbox without creating any more openings to the main system. Why have a sandbox if everything can still phone home to the main system.

Thank you. I’ve been trying that, but when FF is in the sandbox, I keep getting installation errors and to check my error console, which to a non-programmer is gibberish.

If you go to Real-time shields / Process Virtualization / Expert Settings → press “Cleanup contents” button and restart web browser, will it help?

What’s your OS, 32-bit or 64-bit?

Thanks.

Thank you PK. That seems to have done the trick. Again, thank you.
