Issue with Ccleaner after update and running a scan.

I did the update, as per normal, then yesterday, I ran a full scan. Later that night, I ran Ccleaner, and did the Registry Error check, and 5 times in a row, it found these four.

I clicked fix and eachtime I rescan, they pop back up. Even after a reboot. Anyone else experiencing this? And if so, is there a way to fix it?

UPDATE
I clicked repair, did the CClean again, same results. Using Avast free, latest version.

Wouldn’t this be better served on the Piriform forums?

Personally I would advise against using the ccleaner for cleaning any avast related entries. The NG entries shown are a new element in the avast 2015 (a.k.a. avast 10) and when you run scans this NG (virtualisation) function would likely be running. After wards it may not be running but the entries would still be there I believe.

Uncheck the avast options in the Applications, Utilities section of the CCleaner settings.

CCleaner hasn’t been great at even identifying what version of avast that you have installed, see attached image for what CCleaner thinks I have installed. No mention of avast 9 or the latest avast version ‘10.’

I did as you said, but it still pops up in the Registry error section. The cleaner section never mentions anything regarding these errors.

If you run any registry cleaner, even CCleaner, you will run the risk of disabling or breaking a necessary Windows registry key and wind up with a broken Windows install. Only fix in some cases is a new, fresh, clean install of Windows.

Cleaning the registry of broken links/keys is not something that has to be done, not even for maintenance reasons.

Is there some other issue you’re having not mentioned earlier?

Nope non, and I’ve been doing these for years, with no complications. So you advise me not to do a registry clean? I do em daily. And only tend to remove things after program installs and uninstalls

Hopefully, you’ve backed up your registry every time using ERUNT or some such, in order to recover if need be. You are entitled to do so with your own personal system, but an IT trained person would never do so in business as they have neither the time nor the resources to do so, as one wrong move would cost them their job and career.

Doing so daily is overkill, and not even needed, imo. Not needed monthly or annually, either. If having issues with avast or other a/v program, use their specialised removal tool to remove any left-over drivers for you after uninstalling it normally. Much safer than entering the registry.

Weird - if there really was an issue with these and the NG virtualisation was running, I would have thought that it would have resulted in either an avast error to the screen or a windows error.

These entries would at least that you have the avast Virtualisation protection (NG) installed and running - If you subsequently removed/uninstalled that feature (Control Panel > Programs and Features > avast > Change) ?

I wonder if the registry entries created would remain, possibly resulting in the CCleaner entries you reported.

Unfortunately, this XP system isn’t compatible with the NG feature and I had to remove it in my win7 netbook as it really is under resourced to run the NG feature. I will fire up CCleaner on my win7 netbook (that will take some time) and see if it finds anything.

EDIT: Even though I uninstalled the NG function two entries remain, see attached image. I won’t even bother to remove them as they are essentially redundant since I no longer have NG.

I don’t have NG either, the folder is empty, and there is no option in change to remove it.
As for backing the registry up, my tech support guy who worked for HP told me I didn;t need to back it up. So I had followed his advice, he has never been wrong to me in the past.

All I tend to remove registry wise are leftover bits from installers and removing programs/games from steam and my system. Nothing else ever gets removed.

I’m just going to leave it, I hardly remove anything program wise anymore, so I won’t do it until I have to. Thanks everyone for the assistance, but since this issue has not had a negative impact on my systems performance, I’m just going to leave it.

I honestly don’t think that it would be an issue either - the activeX/Com entries if required I believe would be regenerated.

It doesn’t actually show NG as an option in Change.

When you choose the Change option in programs and features, you should get a new window at the Change tab, click Continue. That should open the options, Tools section and right down at the bottom should be ‘Secure Virtual Machines’ that is the NG option and couldn’t get further from what is the NG feature.

Nope, nothing of the sort on my tools list, last box is for “Home Security Network” and above it is a Data shredder. Eh, it’s no issue. Thank you again though for your insight and assistance.

You’re welcome.
