Just curious if anyone else has had an issue with Iyogi Tech Support?
Seems one of my customers, who just picked up her computer from having it cleaned (USDOD) low level format and reloaded with a fresh version of XP, was told by Iyogi Tech Support that she had several virus on her system and she need to subscribe to their 300.+ service agreement to have her system Fixed. Her issue was she could not get her email… After talking to a support person who for a long time refused to ID his self and told me there was no supervisor he could transfer my call to. After about 15 min of loud talking I was transferred to a supervisor. I was told by him that they do support for avast but they also sell computer repair service. I told him of the issue and he responded for some reason they have convinced my customer to let them access her system, to help clean the several virus’s they had found. At this point my customer computer will not access her internet, I have no clue what these idiots have done. But I was informed by the supervisor that they would fix her problem for free if she would call back.
Now from what I see these people are running some kind of scam, trying to scare people into buying their service.
Just interested if anyone else has had this issue with IYOGI.
Welcome to the forum Cbasics,
Unfortunately this isn’t the only such report about IYOGI and their so called “free” support.
This is something that definitely needs to be addressed by Avast because their flim flam bait and switch tactics can give Avast a bad rap since they are the ones recommending IYOGI.
Please Avast do something about this or, find a more reputable outfit to use as backup support. :o :o
Hello Bob and welcome Cbasics. Bob knows me; CBasics, I am the CEO here at Avast. These comments are definitely not what I expect. I do follow iYogi and am constantly looking at feedback and how to improve. Would you both (and anyone else on the forum who has a bad or good experience) forward me additional details. Bob, in particular, it would be great to better understand your concerns. Please do send them via email… I am of course reachable at avast with the email name steckler (sorry for not putting the exact email address but of course, that is to guard against getting more spam…)
They are a bunch of crooks, and have ruined my respect for Avast. I’m dumping avast and going with Kepersky.
@ condor221,
Did you email steckler as stated in his post? Avast is always trying to improve itself and specific feedback is needed. Before you make changes, send him an email as he is very responsive to feedback and making improvements. Thank you.
No safe, I hadn’t read it before. Thanks for pointing it out, I’m really kind of ticked off at this.
Peace
Ironically, iyogi.net is blocked by my MVPS/hp HOSTS file.
Sorry if I’m butting in.
Thanks for letting me know.
I have requested its removal from hpHosts HOSTS file:

WOT is quite useless as users often are biased and un-unformed.
Well, yeah, but my point was that some people are not too satisfied with help those guys offer. There are a couple of “bad customer experience” comments there(I assume those people could rate that site as bad)
I have done a simple google search and there seems to be mixed reviews. Some are satisfied with their experience with iYogi, others are not. Some even report that they have scammed them (disconnecting attempted calls and being unresponsive [after payment] if they cannot fix the problem). Overall, there are more good experiences than bad. But I’ve never used iYogi’s services so I wouldn’t know.
I’ve never been a fan of a security company promoting tech support of a third party company. But overall it’s not a problem.
I’m not a fan of their advertisements that make it sound they are the official tech support for Avast. It doesn’t say that but can be easily implied.
