Just installed this program on my workstation. Another program that I use constantly (SchoolMinder for Windows, by Hunter Systems) no longer works on this workstation. This is a Microsoft Access based program.
When I start SchoolMinder, the mouse goes to the hourglass, as though my request is being processed, but my login screen never comes up. The program stops responding after about 1 minute.
UNFORTUNATELY, I cannot find a way to uninstall Avast.
I have tried the following: “rundll32 d:/program files/Alwil Software/Avast4/setup/setiface.dll, RunSetup”
Please either help me resolve my issue or tell me how to uninstall this program.
Is SchoolMinder a 16bit application? (as I suspect)
What OS do you have?
Any error(s) in Avast’s log file?
Any error(s) in the system and/or event log?
Uh, no. Actually I haven’t tried uninstalling Avast the conventional way. :-[ I think I’ll wait now in case I find a fix.
I’m operating in a Windows 2000 environment. I do not know whether SchoolMinder is a 16-bit program. (How can I tell?) It is running all right on other workstations, but they do not all run the programs that I run.
Avast’s logs are all completely blank. My event log shows a corrupt file system structure from Friday (after the Avast installation), but I was aware of that, anyway, since the chkdsk utility ran automatically when I rebooted.
It should be, sofar only a few minor errors are found.
I would say give it a try, a lot of things are solved in the new version. Who knows, yours may be also solved in it.
If it doesn't work for you, you can always go back to version 4.1.
