I use the windows connect/project feature to project my computer screen to my tv to watch movies, games, etc. The only way it works is if I disable Avast entirely, so I am wondering what I need to whitelist to make this work correctly. Is it a port or application/service I need to whitelist?
PS…the spam verification is awful. How do you expect people to read and make out what those images say. Just use googles reCAPTCHA.

You don’t say what version of avast that you use and if it has/uses the Avast Firewall ?
The two settings for the firewall are Private and Public, if you have it set to Public then it could be blocking the connections to external sources. Try setting it to Private.
Attached is the Avast information, it’s already set to private so that doesn’t seem to be the issue. Is there a port or something I need to whitelist/open?

Thanks but I am not sure the windows screen share/connect is an app so there is not rule exception to add. Screenshot added to clarify why I am referring to. Do you know what I would need to whitelist for this?
