I have an eternal hard drive that I use to download programs and utilities.
Before I install them to my pc I did a full scan to the external hhdd. Avast
found a win32 trojan-gen in one of the programs.I coulnd’t delete it,move or rename it.
Since I haven’t install it yet, may I delete the whole program and use the other ones?
It is this safe ? Avast detects the virus only in that program . (profesional 4.8…).
I’m sorry I am not more specific, but english is not my native language.
What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe
Why couldn’t you deal with it, e.g. what errors were displayed ?
Deletion isn’t really a good first option (you have none left), ‘first do no harm’ don’t delete, send virus to the chest (when that is possible) and investigate.
What is the program ?
Since you haven’t installed the program yet, anything inside the installation file is effectively inert unless you install it (don’t).
I Really appreciate that you answered my question. The program in mention was not important for me.
Actually I wanted to Know if the other ones are safe to use and you dissipated my doubts.
Thank you very much!.

You’re welcome.
