Right now, I see MANY other users complaining about being hijacked and redirected from CNET after being sent their by Alwil to get Avast. Its been known for at least three years now, as far as any techs Iv spoken with, that CNet and many others are a ‘port-scanning’ pool.
I cant say its CNet fault, but their lack of doing anything about it does make me find them personally copable.
I dont think its Alwils fualt, other than my previous comment of ‘NO SECUIRITY VENDOR SHOULD SEND ME FROM THEIR SITE TO DOWNLOAD THEIR PRODUCT’. I think that maybe, like so many other entities, are getting caught up in whats cool and whats not. As a security solution provider, I would expect or hope that you would never fall victim to such ‘high school’ methods.
As well, and I know you dont want to hear the flash thing again, but Alwil can PAT THEMSELVES ON THE BACK. You have just made a security product that has actual “ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS”…and this isnt the same as OS requirements.
Whats that about?
Asthetics or not, if I take the solution ALL provide to this then Avast does not COMPLTLY function…ie. uninstall Flash…is that really good advice, probably but I like watching Hulu yet I cant figure out why my security vendor would implement an engine that is covered YEARLY as unsecure and unreliable. Can a hacker cuase a flash call in a ‘non page fault’ area along with Avast GUI screen calls, causing the system to BSOD (in attempt to disbale Avast protection while OPEN NETWORK connection exists), upon restart then infecting or compltly disabling the Avast engine…it cuold happen.
Bottom line, along with one of the COOLEST security products Iv used, I am confused as someone who holds a ‘security clearance’ as to why Avast is straying away from the things that have kept me coming back…now I have to leave cause you wanna be like the other guys, instead of continuing to do your own thing?
How long before the whole CNet redirect hijacking really becomes an issue before Alwil takes a new/old look at their methods.
Unti Avast will function without it…that includes the stupid graph…it has SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS to function fully. I dont know about you, but I dont buy a security product unless I can use it all…
