I’ve ran Malwarebyte, FixExe.reg and rkill.com, and gotten the thing itself off my system, but Avast is “dead”, refuses to be uninstalled, updated or reloaded and I need instructions on how to fix. ???
Also, I’d recommend you guys put up a locked sticky on this with detailed instructions on how to remove…this thing is nasty. In nearly two decades of internet usage, I’ve never seen a program this sneaky…it bypassed Avast, installed itself undetected, took the system hostage (claiming to be a “better” antivirus program finding other viruses) and practically demanded payment in exchange for allowing any other program to run. I had to use another PC to get the files above and remove it in safe mode. >:(
Uninstall avast from Control Panel (if possible). If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after that.
Run the avast! Uninstall Utility saved on 1. If, for any reason, you can’t run it, try booting in Safe Mode and doing it from there. Anyway, boot after you’ve run it.
Install avast! using the setup saved on 2. Boot.

The same thing happened to me. I ran a scan with Avast and it showed everything was hunky dorey. I ran Super AntiVirus Spyware and it found the problem and kicked it out. Does Avast even work on spyware?
