I recently updated my avast anti virus and with this update came some sort of new web blocker and i’ve had it. it blocks games, it blocks videos etc and i want it gone. I’ve tried to figure out how to get to it through the avast menu to no avail. All the things i’ve seen on the forum about how to disable it are not working because it wont let me open the stupid settings thing. If i click the stupid green a icon on a web window (firefox) the menu will pop up on the right but if i try to click the “settings” button on the lower right nothing happens. i have no script and adblock installed and even disabling both of those i cannot get to whatever page the setting button is supposed to access. is there another way to get to whatever menu i can use to disable this stupid thing?
Go to Add/Remove Programs and click to uninstall avast - on the following screen choose change and then you’ll be given the option to remove unwanted features, untick Browser Protection ( AOS ) " Avast Online Protection "
lemme try that…
Control Panel/ Uninstall Programs then choose to uninstall avast - you’ll get a screen popup after hitting uninstall where you can choose change and then untick Browser Protection " see pic "
i think that did it. thanks! unchecking that wont affect any other protections right?
It removes the phishing protection from the browser but you are still protected by the webshield, many of us don’t use the browser plugin for exactly the same reason ( just to many issues )
Instead of removing AOS, you could also have changed the settings to permit social media and kept the phishing protection.

This also still gives you the website ratings when you do a search.
